Before we made wild trunks, loud party shirts, and the occasional pant, Chubbies operated under one simple idea: make shorts that look good, fit well, and are actually short.

Fifteen years ago, we launched the first Original Short as a quiet rebellion. Back then, men’s fashion was flooded with stiff poses, chiseled abs, and striking amounts of cologne.

We wanted something different. Something real. Something fun.

Shorts had become fabric abominations with floor-sweeping hemlines and pocket overload. Did you ever find an old photobook where your dad was grilling out with no shirt and pair of unbelievably rad shorts? We wanted to wear the shorts in those dog-eared photos. Ones that fit like a glove, looked like a good time, and made you feel like the life of the party.

No one else was going to breathe life back into the shorts drawer, so we took matters into our own hands launching a batch of 5.5-inch inseams, the world’s first shorts-only website, and a dream.

Fast-forward to today and those first glorious pairs of Originals launched a revolution of weekend-loving shorts fanatics. They’ve become the shorts you reach for without thinking. The pair that gets back-to-back wears until you are forced to wash them.

The elastic waistband is still here, built to stay put whether you’re sprinting to last call or posted up on a picnic blanket. And yes, the signature stretch you know and love is alive and well.

We refined the fit with subtle darts to reduce excess fabric between the waist and pockets for a cleaner look that still packs a boatload of comfort. We rebalanced the rise so they sit better, move better, and feel better from the first wear to the fiftieth. And because you can never have too many pockets, we added more. A second back pocket. A secure zip pocket for the things you really don’t want bouncing amuck.

The result? A perfected fit that looks sharper, feels effortless, and is still truly original.
